Ось і закінчилась Різдвяна пора. Різдвяні свята - це завжди весела подія у
житті кожного учня. У цей час у школі завжди весело та гамірно,
відбувається багато святкових подій. Незабутньою залишилась і ця зимова пора
для учнів України і Канади, які активно приймали участь у святкуванні .

This season is always happy moment
for every student. It is noisy time full of joy and happiness in every
school. Many schools organize special performances for this holiday. This
winter season remains unforgettable for the schools from Canada and Ukraine,
which took part in the celebrations.

Учні 4-го класу школи Святого Мартина з м. Едмонтон під керівництвом
Яніни Виговської, вчительки української мови, підтримали старовинну традицію
посівання на Старий Новий Рік. Вони подивились відео з України, як саме там
посіваюють під час свят, і вирішили повторити цю традицію тут. Пані
Яніна зазначила: “Хлопці та дівчата з 4-го класу вивчили напам'ять 2
віршики-посівання. Робили ми це за традицією рано - зранку 14 січня. Учні
ходили посівати по всіх класах та у кабінеті директора. За це учні дістали
платню цукерками та печивом. Ми отримали чудові відгуки від батьків, дехто з
учнів посівав вдома і навіть дістали за це гроші!Ось так ми підтримуємо
українські традиції в Канаді.” Students from St. Martin School, Grade 4 decided to perform an old
tradition connected with seeding on Old New Near's Day. They watched a video from
Ukraine, showing how kids are doing it there and learned 2 poems about New Year
wishes while seeding. Early in the morning
on January 14 they went from class to class, entered the Principal’s room
telling the wishes from the poems and seeding around. They got candies and
cookies for that. Some of the kids did it at home too and some even got money!.
“We received excellent reviews from parents. This way we are trying to support
Ukrainian culture here in Canada ” – says Yanina Vihovska, Grade 4 Teacher,
St. Martin School.

У школі “Cвітанок”, м. Львів впродовж грудня місяця було проведено цілий
цикл новорічних та різдвяних свят. “Кожне з них пройшло, як справжнє
свято, підготовка до якого забрала багато часу, зусиль учителів, учнів і
батьків. На усіх виховних заходах була створена атмосфера любові і краси,
творчості і добра. Зокрема, на високому рівні пройшли свята до дня
Святого Миколая, «В ніч Святого Миколая», новорічний ранок «Ми танцюємо довкола ялинки, зустрічаємо Новий
Рік», новорічний бал - маскарад, «Різдвяна свічечка» та Український
Вертеп. Діти брали участь в інсценівках, забавах, співали обрядові пісні,
колядки, виготовляли наочний матеріал: ялинкові прикраси, маски, костюми,
поповнили свої знання звичаями християнських святкувань” – розповіла Лідія
Андрушко, директор школи.

The series of Christmas and New Year’s
Eve festivals were performed in Lviv Primary School “Svitanok”. It was like a big holiday, that got
together parents, kids and teachers. Hard preparation work had a great
success in the end. Everyone felt the atmosphere of love, beauty,
creativity and joy. There were unforgettable performances for St. Nicholas Day, New Year’s
Eve party “We are dancing around the tree, welcome New Year”, New Year
masquerade, Christmas Candle and Ukrainian Vertep. Students participated in
games, were singing carols, folk songs, preparing Christmas decorations,
special fancy dress and getting new knowledge about Christian celebration
traditions – says Lidiya Andrushko, the School Principal.

У школі №2 м. Львова школярі також активно готувались до святкувань. Старша
і молодша школа організувала чудове свято. Учні одинадцятого класу розкрили
важливість свята Святого Миколая для молодших школярів у виставі "Миколай на сучасний лад". А учні 3-х та 4-х класів продемонстрували
захід "Різдвяні замальовки". Lviv School No2 was busy to get ready for the celebration. All the
kids organized exciting performances. Grade 11 students admitted the importance of St.Nicholas Day for younger
students. They had the performance "St. Nicholas in our time". Students
of grades 3 and 4 had the festival "Christmas сolouring".

Миколай не забув завітати до учнів Канадських шкіл, а саме школи Делвуд. Також
Миколая радо зустріли школярі з вчителем Любою Іщенко на уроці-кафе у Балвін школі.At Delwood, December & January was
full of Christmas festivities for our students from visits from Svyatyi
Mykolai (Saint Nicholas),
caroling, baking Kolach, and finishing the season with Shchedryj Vechir (Feast of Jordan).

Thank
You to all the parents who’ve stepped up to organize the cultural functions and
activities these past few months. Thank You to our teachers for initiating
these cultural events and teachings for our children.
In
December, Balwin students organized
and participated in a Bazar/Auction Event, where they enjoyed spending their
hryvni (Ukrainian money), which they earned during the first school term.
December 19, had a surprise visit from St. Nicholas. Students sat café style,
drinking tea and eating cookies, while they shared conversations about
Ukrainian Christmas traditions. In
January, students prepared kutia, cooked pyrohy, went caroling to Delwood,
presented their Christmas music reviews, and wrote thank notes to UBLA for
financially supporting these cultural events. We are blessed indeed to have
such exciting, educational experiences!
У школі Святого Кевіна та інших католицьких школах урочисто посвячували
воду на свято Водохреща. Water was blessed in St. Kevin School and other Catholic
schools at Feast of Jordan.

Ніби так далеко знаходяться ці дві країни одна від
одної, але Різдвяні свята зближують їх і допомагають підтримувати давні традиції
і започатковувати нові. These two
countries are so far from each other but they do their best to keep traditions together.
Christmas season helps them to remember traditions and introduce new ones.
